TEACHING
I believe the purpose of education is to broaden the knowledge base of students, in the service of fostering critical thinking. My goal is to help students develop skills that will enable them to evaluate complex issues and to live balanced, fulfilling, and productive lives. The techniques and perspectives necessary for the study of visual art are important elements of these skill sets. Of primary importance—and the aspect I stress most in teaching—is the need to question assumptions.
